Q&A WITH PRESIDENT & CO-FOUNDER, RORY BELL

We loved highlighting the women in our team so much on Mother's Day, it's time to put the Millennia TEA men in the spotlights! We hope you enjoy getting to know the TEAm as much as we enjoy introducing them to you.

Happy Father’s Day to you and yours. We appreciate you all so much!

Q&A WITH PRESIDENT & CO-FOUNDER, RORY

  • Tell us about yourself.

I’m a proud Dad to our daughter Sydney and son Lincoln… also our rescue dog Oakley (from Georgia). We often joke with our kids that he is their adopted younger brother, I never thought a dog could bring so much joy into our lives, but this fur guy is the center of attention.

I’m originally from Fredericton NB, and now live in Rothesay NB which is a quaint little town just outside Saint John. I’m a pilot by trade and have spent a lot of my career traveling throughout North America and found the most rewarding aspects of my career flying Air Medivac for the province and most recently as a corporate pilot.

I’m a dreamer who has never stopped imagining what could be.. in 2016 we stumbled upon the idea of creating the entirely new category of frozen tea after a health scare in our family. I’m most fortunate to have Tracy by my side as we look to reimagine the most consumed beverage in the world after water and help fuel peoples’ wellness. She has the patience of a million souls + is the most supportive, kind, loving person I’ve ever known. I’m most fortunate to call her my partner in all things.

  • The best piece of advice you’ve ever received:

There is only one person and one person alone over whom you have control over in this life – and it is yourself.

I believe what motivates me or keeps me challenged is the idea that you only live this life once – So make the best of it! I know that may not sound super inspiring but if we do nothing else with our time we should be looking for ways to bring good into our lives and the lives of others. I firmly believe in the Karma of doing the right things with the right intention regardless of the challenges, that the good pieces of life we share comes back to us. I believe we control all of this through our personal energy, faith, happiness, career + health choices we make.

  • What does self-care mean to you?

I sometimes wonder if I do enough of this. For me it’s getting out early with the dog for a walk. My favourite is the “dating line” … I like long walks along the beach looking over the water and imagining the day ahead from a place of positivity. The other pieces include eating a well-balanced diet and finding a sport or activity that stretches your current physical skill set. My new favourite sport is Foil Boarding (most fun thing in life today ).

  • What’s in your daily health tool-kit?

    1. Walk or Run 3-5km
    2. Smoothie and/or Tea
    3. Mental day prep - meditation or positive affirmations

    • What’s 1 daily practice you prioritize?

I would like to say I always make healthy choices but that’s not always the case.. I do practice intermittent fasting as an easy go-to. I simply find eating three square meals to be too much in North American diets. I choose less and higher quality foods to know my mental and physical game is a priority.

    • Your life mantra:

Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

    • How do you take care of your mental health?

Like anyone, I think the mental game has been tougher on all of us these past couple years. It’s hard not to get sucked into the negative news wires or problems of the day. I practice limited news and when I feel overwhelmed or the heaviness of the day weighs on my shoulders, I make sure I re-align my thoughts with as much positiviTEA as possible. I find a trip to the gym, a walk and silent meditation my go-tos.

    • What is your go-to smoothie recipe?

I love more than anything to start my day with the goodness of nutrients flowing from the inside out. It’s an easy go to that mentally and physically give you a start to moving the ball forward. I also think it needs to taste delicious for myself and my kids (who can be fussy and always appreciate my smoothies over Tracy’s (sorry babe, it’s true!) 😊.

      • Canada Berry Blend (blueberry, hascap, cherry) 1cup
      • Hemp, chia seeds (1tblsp)
      • Millennia Superfood Tea Cube
      • Banana
      • Half water half apple juice (1cup each)
      • Cinnamon
      • Earthli green apple protein powder
    • What does the word “dad” mean to you?

I think the word that I relate most to with “dad” is dependability. If you are there unconditionally for your family, you’re doing your job. Most recently while speaking to another parent on raising a teenager the parent looked at me and said, really just love them and they will come back to you. I know no one out there thinks we’re doing it perfect but I do know love conquers all. I tell my kids daily I love them, I think that’s the best job we can do. DAD = I am dependable love.

    • What are your fave health products?

Ouff, that’s a loaded question. There’s a lot of choice out there and the landscape of choosing one over the other can be a headshake.. For me currently I’m loving Earthli Green Apple Hemp ProteinCultured coconut and can’t go a day without a super cube (total plug, but I just love the clean power I feel knowing I got my caffeine + nutrients to start the day). I believe taking in as much of the spectrum nutritionally as possible. I like routine but also believe adjusting our diet helps keep bodies alert and on point to keep everything running optimal. Like a gym routine it’s good to change it up sometimes .

    • One adventure you hope to live out in your lifetime.

Last year I discovered foil boarding behind a boat.. I can honestly say it’s the most amazing sport experience I’ve ever tried. It’s like levitating in perfect symetry between water and sky. There’s a silence that exist as you leap from the water to being just above everything else that can’t be found anywhere. If you were to ask me where I find the most joy + the place that makes me happiest it’s there. There is another level to this sport that is foil surfing and foil wing surfing. I want to travel to the most beautiful regions of the world (think Costa Rica, Hawaii) learning and expanding this skill set. It’s where I’ve felt most alive recently.
