Five more good-feeling minutes

Five more good-feeling minutes

That’s the reason Rory and I got into business. Because when you believe you could lose someone you love, time takes on new meaning.

In our case, it was Rory’s dad. He sat at our kitchen table in late 2014 and explained how he’d had a seizure after a workout. They’d done some scans at the hospital and found a mass on his brain. He’d lost a sister to brain cancer. It didn’t look good.

Time froze for a moment, and then it started slipping away, and we became immediately and acutely aware of our own impermanence. Rory was thrown back in time 35 years .. to early childhood, when his first dad – his biological father – was killed suddenly in an accident. That long-buried trauma re-surfaced, and Rory decided he wasn’t going to lose his father again.
That’s how we came to the tea plant.
Why TEA? 🌱 Green tea and matcha kept coming up again and again as we dove deep into the research around brain health and cancer (Did you know there are 9,440+ research studies in the past 50 years about tea and health… 450 of them, clinical trials).

We searched the world over for the best gardens and growing conditions, and figured out a process to both preserve more antioxidants and help them better absorb in the gut. We travelled to the highlands of Nandi Hills Kenya and learned from the farmers in the fields.
Today, we work hand in hand with a cooperative of organic family farmers in the mountains in Central Sri Lanka .. to create a tea-food cube to help people feel better now while protecting our cells from long-term damage and disease. Because if we FEEL better, we can do more of what lights us up in life, be more fully present with the people who matter, and by extension, do a lot of good in the world.
This journey of bringing a new product to life is the most challenging thing we’ve ever done. And there have been a lot of days lately where I’ve been pretty low. But I can catch myself and rebound quickly when I go back to why we started...
When there’s a chance you could lose someone you love, time takes on new meaning. And you’ll go to the ends of the earth for five more good minutes with them.
This is the good we want to bring to the world.
We appreciate you being on this journey with us 💚.
